This is materialized in the following activities:
Demonstration farms
Demonstration farms have been established in places where land was purchased or donated by widows and orphans for the use of communal works. Solace wants to empower our rural beneficiaries to grow crops that can make more cash while also being used for food security. These farms will also help to train in various activities such as animal rearing in particular dairy cows. Which will in turn allow beneficiaries to gain income through selling crops or milk.
Fruit trees
Through encouraging the production of planting fruit trees within each individual’s compound, we are seeing income be generated for many individuals. The fruit produced by the trees is eaten by the family and is also sold in the market producing additional income for many families.
Handicrafts
There are currently two communities within Solace that produce handicrafts. The women who are a part of these groups have seen promising results from the crafts they've sold. The income they are are able to generate from their products has helped to increase their quality of life. We are consistently looking at ways to increase the quality and quantity of our products.
Micro business
A lot of income generating small businesses are being carried out in 25 communities. The variety of businesses varies from selling items in a shop to photography resulting from the purchase of a camera. We are greatly encouraged by this desire for self sufficiency.
Dairy cows
This project aims to have 1,000 families of widows and orphans each owning a dairy cow. We rejoice in the Lord for the families that have already received a cow because there is an obvious positive change in their lives and their way of living. Through receiving a cow, individuals are able to sell milk and gain income for their daily life.
